CARDENDEN MAN SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING AND DISTRIBUTING INDECENT CHILD IMAGES
A man from Cardenden, Brian Wotherspoon (54), has been sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work and placed under a three-year supervision order after admitting to possessing and distributing indecent images of children.
Wotherspoon pleaded guilty to three charges: taking or permitting the taking of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, possessing these images between August 9, 2013, and October 20, 2013, and distributing the images from August 20 to October 24, 2013.
Sheriff William Wood remarked, “I am inclined to deal with matters with a custodial sentence given the distribution.
Somewhere a child is being abused.
It is real for somebody somewhere.
The distribution charge goes a step beyond looking at these images.” Wotherspoon will also participate in a program aimed at making positive changes, will be required to stay in accommodation approved by a social worker, and is prohibited from using internet-accessing devices.
