DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING MINORS

A man named James Wilson has been sentenced to imprisonment for engaging in numerous sexual offenses involving minors.

Wilson was convicted after admitting to a range of sexual misconduct, including having sex with a 13-year-old girl behind a supermarket in Cowdenbeath and coercing another 13-year-old girl into viewing a sexual image and communicating indecently through Facebook.

The court heard he initiated messaging with a 13-year-old girl on Facebook in March 2016, met her in person, and smoked cannabis before having sex with her on a grass slope near Morrison's supermarket.

Additionally, Wilson had unlawful sexual activity with a 15-year-old when he was 18, inducing her to perform a sex act and engaging in sexual intercourse.

He was also involved in a paedophile hunter sting in June 2022, during which he sent explicit images and messages to what he believed was a 13-year-old girl, but was in fact an adult posing as a minor.

Wilson's sentence includes four years and 15 days in jail, a two-year extended community sentence, and placement on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

Sheriff Susan Duff described him as a "danger to young girls" and handed down the sentence at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He was remanded in custody from January 29, 2022, and his sentence has been backdated to that date.
