MIDDLESBROUGH MAN CONVICTED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT ON PARTNER
A former Middlesbrough Council worker named Brian Wood was involved in an assault on his partner at their home in Middlesbrough.
The court heard that on January 19, Wood launched a physical attack on his girlfriend, hitting her twice across the face which caused her glasses to fall off.
He then proceeded to hit her over the head with her mobile phone.
Paramedics were called to the scene following the assault, and both the woman and Wood sustained minor injuries; she had blood on her top, and Wood had scratches on his arm.
During police proceedings, Wood admitted his actions and explained that he did not want to be in the relationship but had returned due to financial reasons, as his money was paid into her bank account.
He pleaded guilty to assault by beating.
The court sentenced him to a £209 fine and imposed a 16-week electronically monitored curfew from 9 pm until 6 am.
The incident is classified as domestic violence.
