2009: KNIFE MANIAC JAILED FOR LIFE

A man who inflicted 82 stab wounds on his former girlfriend out of jealousy has received a life sentence.

Brian Taylor, aged 29 and residing on Chorley Old Road in Bolton, admitted to the murder of Katie Summers during a hearing at Manchester Crown Court today.

The victim, known locally as Katie Boardman, was found dead by police at her residence on Masefield Drive in Farnworth around 10:30am on October 9.

Emergency services were summoned to the scene, but despite their efforts, she was declared dead.

Taylor has been sentenced to serve a minimum of 17 and a half years in prison.
