BRIAN HUTCHINS FROM KIDLINGTON JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN READING AND OXFORD

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Kidlington and beyond, police have revealed the arrest and subsequent sentencing of Brian Hutchins, a 25-year-old computer technician, for possessing and distributing an extensive collection of child pornography. The investigation uncovered nearly 18,000 images and 316 video files depicting the abuse of children, some of which included distressing scenes involving babysitters in Reading, approximately 30 miles from Kidlington.

Hutchins, who resides on Evans Lane in Kidlington, pleaded guilty to 26 charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images. His crimes led to his sentencing at Oxford Crown Court, where he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely, disqualified from working with children, and ordered not to access the Internet privately, reflecting the severity of his offenses.

The investigation into Hutchins' activities was spearheaded by Pc Simon O'Brien, a seasoned officer who has handled over 90 paedophile cases during Operation Ore, a major UK crackdown on child pornography. Pc O'Brien described the images seized from Hutchins as the worst he has ever encountered, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the material.

Police discovered Hutchins' Internet activity in June 2005 through international cooperation. Finnish police, who had traced his online sharing activities, provided crucial details that led to his identification. Pc O'Brien explained,
