SENIOR THAMES VALLEY POLICE OFFICER RULED UNACCEPTABLE FOR STARING AND INAPPROPRIATE CONDUCT
A senior detective from Thames Valley Police, Det Supt Mark Spencer, has been found to have engaged in unacceptable behavior over a decade until 2022, including routinely staring at female colleagues' breasts and acting inappropriately towards women. Some women described Spencer as having a 'wandering eye' and said he would stare at their chests as if it was a 'compulsion.' The panel overseeing his conduct dismissed his explanation that he was 'very socially awkward' and avoiding eye contact as 'fanciful,' noting that if he had not already left the force, he would have been dismissed.
Spencer had a reputation among colleagues, being labeled a 'perv' and a 'letch.' Despite his professional skills and respect in the force, his behavior persisted even after his supervisor had addressed it and made colleagues uncomfortable.
Additionally, he was observed using winking emojis and was overfamiliar with a junior female colleague.
The panel concluded his misconduct involved an abuse of authority and trust and determined that he would have been sacked had he still been employed by TVP.
