FALKIRK MAN JAILED FOR THREATENING AND STALKING EX
Brian Hardie, aged 36, from Falkirk, was found guilty of engaging in abusive and threatening behavior through social media messages and voicemails directed at Emma his former partner, her boyfriend and her friend. The court heard that his stalking began with a Facebook message on July 29, in which he warned a person to stay away from Emma, stating: “If you even think for a second you can get near my daughter, dig a hole.
On my life, I’ll put you in it.” Subsequently, he sent a series of vile messages and voicemails, including one where he threatened to cut her throat the next time he saw her.
Emma received multiple deleted voice messages, one saying he loved her, and others warning her to stay away and indicating that his behavior was causing her constant fear.
Additionally, he messaged a person asking, “How many times have you been told about chatting to Emma?
You’re still chatting her up,” and further warned him to “stay the f*** away.
Clearly this is causing trouble.” It was also revealed that he had previously received a voice message threatening to murder the person if he did not stay away.
The court heard that Hardie had served a 20-month prison sentence for breaching court orders related to domestic offenses.
Sheriff Douglas Kinloch sentenced Hardie to 87 days in prison, to be served after his current sentence, emphasizing that his behavior was abusive, threatening, frightening, and humiliating, and informed him that such conduct was likely to cause harm.
The case was prosecuted by Kat Craig, and the court recognized the behavior as a significant escalation of earlier conduct.
