CAERPHILLY MAN, 71, ADMITS SEXUAL ASSAULT OF GIRL, AGED 15
A senior citizen has admitted to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
Brian Hammond, aged 71, residing in Vere Place, Gilfach, Caerphilly, carried out the offense during the summer of last year.
Due to legal protections under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, the victim’s identity cannot be disclosed or reported.
Hammond’s case was transferred from Newport Magistrates' Court to the crown court for sentencing, with a scheduled appearance on August 21.
He has been released on conditional bail.
The defendant was represented by Anthony O'Connell, while the prosecution was led by Francesca Parry.
Hammond was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
