BRIAN BAVERSTOCK FROM BOSTON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AND DRUG CRIMES

Brian Baverstock, a 54-year-old resident of Freiston Road in Boston, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of grave criminal acts that spanned over a period of more than a year. The charges include grooming a teenage girl using illegal substances and gifts, followed by multiple sexual assaults committed against her between December 2021 and April 2023.

Following his arrest, law enforcement officials conducted a thorough search of Baverstock’s property, uncovering quantities of illegal drugs such as cannabis, Diazepam tablets, and cocaine. These substances are indicative of street-level drug distribution, and their presence on his premises added to the severity of his criminal profile.

During the course of the investigation, authorities also unearthed evidence of additional offences linked to drug-related violence and other criminal activities dating back to 2019. These historical charges had previously resulted in Baverstock being prosecuted and sentenced, further complicating his criminal record.

Despite the mounting evidence and the gravity of the crimes, Baverstock chose not to accept responsibility for his actions. Instead, he opted to face trial, during which the jury found him guilty of two counts of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault. The court sentenced him to 11 years in prison for each of the assault charges, with an additional two-year sentence for sexual assault. All sentences are to run concurrently, meaning he will serve the combined time simultaneously.

In addition to the sexual offences, Baverstock received sentences for drug supply and possession of various controlled substances, with these terms also running concurrently. The court imposed a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect indefinitely, and Baverstock will be registered as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

Detective Constable Aaron Gorman highlighted the manipulative tactics employed by Baverstock, describing him as a 'sexual predator who groomed and manipulated the victim with gifts and illegal drugs to gain her confidence.' He emphasized that justice has been duly served for the victim and the community.

The offences, which occurred over a period from December 2021 to April 2023, also included charges related to possession of drugs, affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and drug supply. Baverstock pleaded guilty to these charges, and the case concluded with a detailed sentencing that reflects the seriousness of his criminal conduct.
