BRADLEY HARRIS BRUTALITY IN BRIDLINGTON: DOG STABBED TO DEATH IN VIOLENT INCIDENT
In a disturbing case that shocked the community of Bridlington, Bradley Michael Harris, born on September 4, 1998, and residing on South Back Lane, was convicted of a heinous act involving the killing of a beloved pet. The incident, which took place in July 2016, involved Harris stabbing a black Patterdale terrier-type dog named McGregor, resulting in the animal's tragic death.Harris, who has familial ties to Lincoln, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to McGregor. The RSPCA inspector Geoff Edmond described the incident as "a horrendous event that inflicted immense pain and suffering on the dog, leading to its death, and caused significant distress to the dog's owners."
According to reports, Harris was part of a group of four individuals who were intoxicated and causing a disturbance within the communal hallway of a block of flats located on Wellington Road in Bridlington. Two of the individuals, including Harris, lived in the same building. The commotion drew the attention of the dog's owners, a man and a woman who also resided in the same block.
As tensions escalated, the owners confronted the group about the noise. In a violent response, the door to their flat was forcibly kicked in, allowing their two dogs to escape into the hallway. It was during this confrontation that Harris committed the brutal act. He stabbed McGregor twice with a knife, with veterinary evidence indicating that Harris held the dog down during the attack. Despite the injuries, McGregor managed to break free and was found a few minutes later, collapsed and bleeding profusely under a table in the hallway.
Sadly, McGregor succumbed to his injuries shortly after, dying in the arms of one of his owners. The incident left a lasting impact on the community and highlighted the severity of animal cruelty cases in the area.
Harris was subsequently sentenced to four months in jail and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £125. Additionally, he was disqualified from keeping animals for five years, a ban that expired in December 2021. The case remains a stark reminder of the consequences of violent and reckless behavior towards animals in Bridlington.
