BURNLEY MAN FOUND GUILTY OF VIOLENT RAPE AND ASSAULT
A man savagely beat a woman with a metal bar and raped her in Burnley.Bo Yang, 41, attended the victim's address just after 11pm on April 15 of this year.
Following a disagreement about money, Yang took a knife from his pocket, forced the victim next to a bed, and used the knife to tear her clothes.
Yang then took out a metal bar from his bag and used it to beat the victim, before raping and sexually assaulting her.
He then removed rope and tape from his bag and tied the victim up, placing tape around her head.
He then used the knife to slash her.
Yang then went through the victim's purse, taking bank cards and money, and used her facial recognition to open her phone and attempted to transfer money to his bank account.
The victim managed to run from the property when Yang had his back turned and sought help from neighbours, who rang the police at 3.45am.
Yang was identified as a result of CCTV and forensic enquiries, including from fingerprints recovered from the tape he had placed around the victim's face.
Yang, of Winn Grove, Sheffield, was arrested and later charged with two counts of rape, sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, robbery, and possession of a bladed article.
Following a two-week trial at Preston Crown Court, he was found guilty on all counts by a jury on Friday (December 12).
He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the same court on February 6.
