BLAKE MADISON FROM SCUNTHORPE SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING 122 INDECENT IMAGES OF YOUNG BOYS IN GRIMSBY

In a case that has shocked the community of Scunthorpe, Blake Madison, aged 41, was brought before Grimsby Crown Court to face serious allegations related to the possession of a significant number of indecent images depicting young boys.

The court heard that Madison had accumulated over 120 such images on his mobile device, which he admitted ownership of during the proceedings.

The incident came to light on February 8 of the previous year when police officers responded to a call related to a separate matter involving Madison’s partner.

During their investigation, authorities conducted a search of Madison’s residence on George Street, where they discovered a mobile phone hidden beneath a pillow on his bed.

The device was seized and subsequently sent for forensic analysis.

The analysis revealed that the phone contained a disturbing collection of indecent images of boys, with the youngest victims estimated to be between seven and ten years old.

The images were categorized into different levels of severity: five at level A, 27 at level B, and a staggering 90 at level C.

Madison was promptly arrested, cautioned, and taken in for questioning.

During his interview, he acknowledged that the phone was his and confirmed that he was the sole individual with access to it.

Madison provided some insight into his personal circumstances, explaining that he was born with spina bifida, a condition that had impacted his physical development and necessitated reconstructive surgeries.

He claimed that this condition had led to a fascination with male development and, consequently, with male pornography.

Despite his acknowledgment of the images, Madison expressed a desire to seek help to prevent any future offending, emphasizing his wish to avoid repeating such behavior.

It was also revealed that Madison had a criminal history, with three previous convictions involving a total of 15 offences, including two related to similar offences involving indecent images.

Notably, he had served a 12-month prison sentence at Hull Crown Court in 2011 for making indecent photographs of children.

During the sentencing hearing, Madison’s legal representative, Antony Farrell, highlighted that his client had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

Farrell also mentioned that Madison was scheduled to undergo reconstructive surgery later that year.

He described Madison’s psychological state, stating that he viewed himself as extremely unattractive, which had contributed to a long-standing depression since he was nine years old.

Farrell argued that Madison’s difficult upbringing, including being effectively expelled from his family home at a young age, had played a role in his current circumstances.

Farrell requested that any custodial sentence be suspended, allowing Madison to receive the necessary psychological help and support to address his issues.

He emphasized Madison’s genuine remorse and his desire to lead a lawful, normal life, free from the influence of his personal demons.

In delivering his judgment, Recorder Tahir Khan acknowledged the seriousness of the offence, especially given Madison’s prior convictions.

He considered whether Madison posed a danger to the public that would warrant immediate imprisonment or if community-based punishment could be more beneficial in the long term.

Ultimately, the judge decided to suspend a two-year prison sentence for two years, contingent upon Madison’s participation in a sex offenders’ treatment program and a 15-day rehabilitation activity.

Additionally, Madison was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, underscoring the gravity of the case and the need for ongoing monitoring.
