LUTON MAN BHARAT GOHIL DESCRIBED AS A 'MONSTER' BY JUDGE AND SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN AYLESBURY
A man from Luton, identified as Bharat Gohil, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple heinous child sex offences. The 59-year-old, who resides in Rodeheath, Luton, was found guilty of committing four separate counts of raping a child under the age of 13, along with numerous other charges related to sexual assault through touching.
The criminal case against Gohil came to light after victims courageously came forward to report the abuse, which had taken place over several years in Dacorum, Hertfordshire.
The allegations detailed a pattern of disturbing and predatory behavior that spanned from May 2004 to January 2017, involving the exploitation of vulnerable children.
Gohil’s arrest occurred in September 2021, following a thorough investigation prompted by the victims’ disclosures.
The authorities charged him with multiple offences, including child cruelty, in addition to the sexual abuse charges.
His trial culminated in a conviction in December 2023, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for his victims.
On October 7, Gohil appeared before Judge Sheridan at Aylesbury Crown Court to face sentencing.
The judge did not hold back in condemning Gohil’s actions, describing him as a “monster” who “enjoyed the terror that he instilled” in his victims.
The court sentenced him to 20 years in prison, a punishment deemed appropriate given the severity of his crimes.
In addition to his prison sentence, Gohil was subjected to three restraining orders, including an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to prevent any future offending.
He will also be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.
Detective Sergeant Adam Haines expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “I am pleased that Gohil has received this heavy sentence for such serious offences, and that justice has been served for his victims.” He emphasized the far-reaching impact of Gohil’s actions, noting, “The impact of his offending was far reaching, and this sentence rightly reflects the harm caused by him.” DS Haines further highlighted the importance of victims’ bravery in coming forward, encouraging others who have experienced similar abuse to seek support.
“I hope this serves as an example that sexual offences and offences against the most vulnerable in society are treated with the appropriate care and attention across the criminal justice system.
These victims were brave enough to come forward about what happened and because of this, a dangerous offender has been imprisoned.
I encourage victims of crime to come forward so that you can get the support you need from specialist officers and other partners.”
