THUG ATTACKED WOMAN WITH GYM WEIGHT DURING MONTHS OF ABUSE
A man was sentenced to prison after subjecting a woman to months of assault and psychological abuse, court proceedings heard.Benjamin Levy, aged 36 and identifiable by a 'warrior' tattoo on his face, physically attacked his victim by slamming her head into a door frame, throwing her onto a radiator, and hitting her with a gym weight during a period of prolonged violence.
The woman reported the abusive incidents to police, leading to Levy’s arrest and subsequent charges.
He faced over 15 allegations, which included controlling and coercive behaviour, assault, threats to kill, and sending threatening messages.
Initially, Levy denied the accusations during police interviews and brief court appearances but later admitted guilt.
On January 9, at Wolverhampton Crown Court, a judge sentenced him to 16 years in prison, to be followed by an additional five years on licence.
Detective Constable Morgan Colley of the West Midlands Police Public Protection Unit commented, "Levy was a dangerous person who preyed on this woman, causing her to fear he would end her life due to the threats he made and violence he carried out.
"But her bravery has been exceptional and she has shown that through her courage in reporting him to us, he has now been brought before the courts and convicted.
She showed such admirable resolve and strength throughout the proceedings and with her help, we have been able to ensure that this man is locked up for a long time."
