MAN JAILED AFTER BEING FOUND GUILTY OF CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A paedophile has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison, with praise given to his victims for their bravery in reporting the distressing sexual abuse they experienced at his hands.
In 2020, one of the victims came forward to share that Ross Jackson had been subjecting her to sexual abuse within the Newcastle area.
This led investigators to discover similar allegations from another victim located in Durham.
Following this, Northumbria Police initiated an investigation, collected evidence, and interviewed Jackson.
He faced multiple charges, which he denied.
His trial took place at Newcastle Crown Court in December 2025, where he was convicted of 24 different counts, including several rapes, seven counts of sexual assault through touching, and possession of extreme pornography.
He was then remanded in custody.
Jackson, now 39 years old and living on Lowther Avenue in Chester-le-Street, appeared at the Moot Hall in Newcastle on Tuesday, February 3.
He received a sentence of 23 years in prison, with an additional five years under extended supervision upon release.
He will also be required to remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely, and he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) along with a restraining order to keep him away from his victims.
