CHESTER-LE-STREET PERVERT SEXUALLY ASSAULTED TEENAGER
A pervert who sexually assaulted a teenager having plied her with booze has been locked up.Pattison, of Wimbledon Walk, Chester-le-Street, was convicted after a four-day trial when she was forced to give evidence, Teesside Crown Court heard.
The 33-year-old carried out a sustained sexual assault on his young victim.
Becky Jane, prosecuting, read out a victim impact statement from the teenager where she said her life had been turned upside down by the assault.
She said: “This incident has impacted on me in different ways but I think it impacted my mental health the most.
There have been a couple of times when I have broken down since it happened.
Sometimes it just pops into my head and it makes me angry then upset.” Pattison, of Wimbledon Walk, Chester-le-Street, was found guilty of sexual assault on the girl following a trial.
Tony Davis, mitigating, said the defendant was a hardworking family man who is held in high esteem by his family, friends and employer.
He added: “The lack of judgement he has demonstrated in fighting the case may well aggravate the case but the reality is that it was a short-lived sexual assault.” Judge Jo Kidd sentenced Pattison to 30 months for the sustained sexual assault after he had plied the girl with alcohol to make her more vulnerable to his behaviour.
“The child was forced to come and give evidence and was cross-examined on the basis that she was lying or mistaken.
You poured further strong liquor and encouraged the victim to drink it.” she said.
“You take the view that that was a deliberate, targeted and premeditated attempt by you to increase her vulnerability further.” Pattison was made subject to an indefinite restraining order, issued with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and told to sign on the sex offenders’ register for life.
