HALIFAX MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER AND ASSAULTING EX-PARTNER
A man named Benjamin Jarvis, aged 36, residing in Siddal, Halifax, has been jailed for breaching a court order by entering his former partner’s property, climbing through her window, and kissing her.
The restraining order had barred him from entering Clough Place after he was convicted for criminal damage and harassment; these charges related to an incident last July when he shattered her window and made 300 phone calls over three weeks.
Despite this, on September 5, Jarvis went to the woman’s home shortly after 9 am, broke her window again, and was seen at her house.
The court heard that their relationship ended due to multiple incidents of domestic violence and property damage.
On the day in question, her brother was woken up by Jarvis’s face peering through the broken window.
Jarvis explained to the court that he was scared of her and that he had surrendered himself after police announced they were searching for him.
During police interviews, he denied the woman’s allegations, saying he hated her rather than loved her.
He admitted to criminal damage, harassment, and breaching the restraining order, with an additional breach admitted during trial.
Bradford Crown Court sentenced him to two years in prison and imposed a five-year restraining order.
The judge clarified that although no violence occurred, his actions created fear and were part of a sustained pattern of problematic conduct.
