MAN JAILED FOR MULTIPLE RAPE OFFENCES, WAKEFIELD
A man was jailed on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, after being convicted of raping three women in the Wakefield area.Benjamin Baxter, aged 38 and residing without a fixed home, was convicted at Leeds Crown Court of four counts of rape along with a charge of controlling and coercive behaviour.
Following his trial, he was sentenced today in the same court to serve 20 years in prison, plus an additional five-year extended licence.
Detective Constable Hannah Banks from the Wakefield District Adult Safeguarding Unit stated: “Baxter has shown he is a dangerous individual with predatory behaviour towards multiple victims.
“Some community members may be familiar with Baxter as he previously ran a pub as a landlord in Wakefield.
We believe this prison sentence will serve to provide some reassurance to his victims and the wider community.
“These women were subjected to severe trauma, and despite their bravery in reporting the crimes and supporting the judicial process, Baxter has not taken responsibility or expressed remorse during this entire process.
“I urge anyone who has experienced sexual or domestic abuse offences to come forward and report.
Suffering in silence allows offenders to evade justice.
Our department is dedicated to investigating offences thoroughly and ensuring those responsible for violence and sexual violence against women face the consequences of their actions.”
