BARRY MOORE FROM LOUGHBOROUGH SENTENCED FOR PAST ABUSE IN LEICESTER COURT
In a case that has spanned over a decade and a half, Barry Moore, a 55-year-old man from Loughborough, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of two young girls.The offences, which date back to 2004, have finally come to light after years of silence and suffering.
Moore, residing on Parklands Drive in Loughborough, was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault, including eight counts of rape, 11 counts of indecent assault, and two counts of attempted rape.
The court proceedings revealed that the abuse began when the victims were as young as five years old, with the assaults occurring both at Moore’s residence and at locations where the victims were taken, such as swimming pools.
Throughout the trial at Leicester Crown Court, it was disclosed that Moore employed manipulative tactics to silence his victims initially.
He would bribe them with crisps to prevent them from revealing the abuse.
As the girls grew older, his methods escalated to threats of violence, including warnings that he would kill them if they ever disclosed what was happening.
These threats and manipulations kept the victims silent for years, allowing Moore to continue his predatory behavior.
The allegations only surfaced when one of the victims, now aged 18 and 20, confided in a parent.
This disclosure prompted a confrontation with Moore, leading to his arrest and subsequent trial.
During the proceedings, Moore denied all charges, but the evidence presented was overwhelming.
Judge Simon Hammond described Moore as a “serial sexual predator of young girls,” emphasizing the profound impact of his actions on the victims.
The judge also noted the emotional toll of the trial, where the victims had to relive their traumatic experiences in court.
As part of his sentence, Moore was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Additionally, the court allowed four other rape charges and a similar charge to remain on file, indicating the possibility of further legal action or evidence in the future.
It was also revealed that Moore is expected to be released within the next seven days, raising concerns about ongoing safety and the potential for further incidents.
