'VINDICTIVE' DOMESTIC OFFENDER DAMAGED EX'S FRONT DOOR
A ‘VINDICTIVE’ domestic offender has been ordered to complete unpaid work after he damaged his ex-partner’s front door and challenged her to a 'square go'.Barry Anderson, 46, committed the offences over two days in June.
He placed a ‘glue-like substance’ in the lock of the door at the woman's Greenock flat, making it unusable.
He also used white paint on the door after spray painting an offensive message.
He admitted his actions in a text message to her son: “Tell your mum sorry I wrecked her door.
I did my best to fix it.” The next day, the woman saw Anderson in the street in his Vauxhall Astra.
He pulled up next to her vehicle, made hand gestures, and challenged her to a fight.
She reversed and tried to drive off, but Anderson followed closely.
He further demanded she pull over, then she managed to escape amid traffic.
Anderson, from Largs, pleaded guilty to damaging property belonging to another, behaving threateningly, and driving without due care at Greenock Sheriff Court last month.
The court heard he was 'disgusted' by his behaviour and was struggling to cope with his relationship breakup.
Sheriff Anthony McGeehan described his contacting her son as 'particularly vindictive' and noted Anderson's own remorse.
He placed Anderson on a community payback order for 12 months supervised and 135 hours of unpaid work, imposed an 18-month curfew monitored by an electronic tag, and ordered him to pay £100 compensation.
A non-harassment order forbids contact with the victim for three years, and six penalty points were added to his driving licence.
