RAPIST 'LURED' VICTIM TO SECLUDED BOLTON CHURCHYARD BEFORE ASSAULT
A "manipulative and dishonest" rapist “lured” a young women onto a secluded field before sexually assaulting her, a court heard.Bolton Crown Court heard how Aymal Ali, 38, was on Bradshawgate in the town centre in the early hours of May 4 last year when he met the young woman, who had been out socialising with friends.
Prosecutor Charlotte Rimmer said: “She said she needed to go to the toilet and asked if he knew where it was.
“She said she needed to go to the toilet and asked if he knew where it was.
She then left her friends to go home at around 3.10am, and Ali saw her.
He took her to a field attached to St Peter's Church in Bolton town centre, where he raped her as she went in and out of consciousness.
Ali, who has a long history of sexual offences and had a suspended sentence for a previous crime, listened through an Arabic interpreter as it was described that he led her to the secluded churchyard and assaulted her.
She had not used protection, and CCTV footage showed Ali and her entering the field around 3.26am and leaving after 5am.
Ali, of Willows Lane, Deane, was arrested on Oxford Street and denied having sex or entering the churchyard during police interviews, but DNA evidence connected him to the victim.
He indicated a guilty plea to the charge of rape just days before his trial.
The victim’s family described the impact on her, with her mother saying, “Her innocence was taken away unwillingly.
You stole that from my daughter.” Judge Abigail Hudson sentenced Ali to eight and a half years in prison, with at least two thirds to be served before parole eligibility, plus a three-year extended license, and ordered him to be on the sex offenders register for life.
She stated that Ali’s actions had a profound impact on a vulnerable victim and that he presents an ongoing danger to women, highlighting his manipulative and dishonest behavior and lack of insight.
