KELTY WOMAN SENTENCED FOR HARASSMENT AND ABUSE TOWARDS EX-PARTNER
A Kelty woman named Ashley Lewis, aged 31, from Black Road, Kelty, was involved in a case where she bombarded her ex-partner with numerous calls and emails. She was subject to a non-harassment order and sentenced to 180 hours of unpaid work, along with two years of supervision and a two-year non-harassment order.
Lewis had previously admitted to behavior between April 12 and May 9 at an address in Dunfermline, which included persistently sending her former partner emails, texts, and voicemails that caused fear or alarm, as well as calling his father and leaving an abusive voicemail.
The court heard the couple had a two-year relationship and a child together, ending in late 2018.
The ex-partner reported receiving over 1,000 emails from different addresses believed to be from Lewis, which caused fear despite attempts to block her attempts to contact him.
The father of the ex-partner received a distressing voicemail from Lewis saying, "I suggest you phone me, so you don't have a heart attack and die you f***ing c***," which distressed him greatly.
The defense explained that the offending occurred during the emotional upheaval of the break-up, which included a weekend hotel stay that ended their relationship.
The court was told that Lewis was remorseful for the voicemail and that she had suffered emotional abuse from her ex-partner, noting her intention was not reconciliation but the upheaval caused by her child's removal.
Sheriff Charles Macnair characterized her actions as abusive, involving unwarranted texts, emails, and a voicemail, and emphasized that this was her last chance.
