MAN JAILED FOR GROOMING YOUNG GIRLS

Arfan Mir, also known as Khalifa Mughal, aged 42, from Halifax, was convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving young girls aged 13 and 16 in the Calderdale area.

He was found guilty of crimes including rape and supply of a Class A drug affecting one of the victims and perverting the course of justice concerning the other.

Mir was initially sentenced to 12 years in prison.

However, following an appeal, his sentence was reduced to 10 years.

Legal restrictions surrounding reporting the details of his sentence have now been lifted, and his case has contributed to a total of 24 convictions connected to the grooming gang case, with the offenders collectively serving over 260 years in jail.
