The victims of a disturbing and prolonged series of child sexual abuse committed by the Potts family in Coventry have been publicly commended for their remarkable bravery in coming forward to share their traumatic experiences.

These heinous acts, which spanned over three decades, involved multiple members of the Potts family and included grave offenses such as rape, sexual assault, and acts of cruelty towards children. The severity of their crimes prompted authorities to initiate a comprehensive case review aimed at evaluating the response and handling of the case by law enforcement and social services, with the hope of identifying any lessons that could be learned to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The case review will need to delve into events dating back to 1989, the year when the first victim of Antony Potts stepped forward to report the abuse to police. However, at that time, the case did not proceed to trial, leaving many questions unanswered and justice unserved for years.

It was only after additional disclosures from children in 2015 and 2016 that a full-scale investigation was finally launched. These revelations led to the arrest and subsequent prosecution of Antony Potts, along with five other members of his family, all of whom faced charges related to their involvement in these disturbing crimes.

Antony Potts, who resides on Milverton Road in Coventry, was convicted on multiple counts, including 13 counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, nine counts of inciting a child to perform sexual acts, and acts of cruelty directed at children.
