COVENTRY MAN JAILED FOR SEX ASSAULTS ON GIRL; 'NOT A SEXUAL PREDATOR', COURT TOLD
A man named Alan Cadman, aged 30, who was a volunteer for the Boys' Brigade and participated in a Christian band, has been convicted and sentenced for sex offences.
Cadman, formerly residing on Albany Road in Earlsdon, Coventry, received a jail term of two years and his name is to be kept on the sex offenders' register for ten years.
At Coventry Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to six charges of indecently assaulting a girl under 16.
He initially denied three additional charges of raping another girl in October 2002; however, these remain on the case file.
Prosecutor Christina Montgomery stated the assaults occurred when the girl was 13 and 14 years old.
In mitigation, lawyer Pamela Radcliffe described Cadman as a man of good character, asserting that 'This was not the case of a sexual predator.' Judge Richard Cole, in sentencing, emphasized the law stating that for girls under 16, any sexual relations or assaults are unlawful without exception.
The investigation was led by DC Andy McCord, who expressed satisfaction with the sentence, noting that the officers appreciated both girls for coming forward and providing information that led to Cadman's imprisonment.
