MALCOLM LAMBERT FROM COVENTRY WORKS AT AIR MUSEUM DESPITE SEX OFFENDER CONVICTION
In a disturbing revelation, Malcolm Lambert, a 66-year-old sex offender from Coventry, has been found working at the Midland Air Museum, where he is reportedly giving guided tours to children. This situation raises serious concerns about the safety and oversight of vulnerable visitors at the popular attraction.Lambert, who was convicted of taking indecent photographs of a 13-year-old girl, is currently listed on the Sex Offenders’ Register. Despite his criminal record, he is seen daily at the museum dressed in muddy green overalls and a white hat, wandering among the exhibits and assisting visitors, including young children eager to explore the aircraft displays.
Families visiting the museum, unaware of Lambert’s background, are under the impression that he is simply a staff member or volunteer. One parent, who claims to be a father and also asserts that Lambert is the museum’s chief engineer, told an undercover reporter from The Sun, “We get all sorts here – plenty of school groups.”
He further explained, “When people want showing around we just help them and wander around with them. We get families here bringing their children. It’s a good way for younger generations to learn about things they wouldn’t otherwise see.” The museum also hosts evening groups when the aircraft are illuminated, creating an engaging atmosphere that children reportedly enjoy.
When confronted about his criminal record, Lambert appeared visibly distressed, holding his head in his hands. He claimed, “I worked here before it happened and I have carried on working here. The museum’s board knows about my situation.” He added that he had pleaded guilty earlier this year to the charges related to the indecent photographs and was sentenced to 60 days on a sex offenders’ course, with a five-year registration on the sex offenders’ register.
Lambert, who also mentioned that the probation service is aware of his employment at the museum, stated, “The probation service know I’m working here. As part of my probation I have to do a variety of courses up in Blackpool.”
Despite these claims, the chairman of the museum’s board, Barry James, insisted that Lambert was not authorized to give tours to children and that he was under close supervision by another staff member. However, when questioned about reports and observations indicating Lambert was acting as a guide, Mr. James responded, “It’s about rehabilitation. We were informed the best way to deal with the situation is to make sure people are monitored. We know where he is and what he is doing.”
This situation has sparked concern among visitors and child safety advocates, highlighting the ongoing challenge of managing offenders within community settings, especially those involving children and educational environments.
