BOLTON MAN ANTHONY CALLAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT AND ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS
Anthony Callan, a 34-year-old man from Bolton, has been sentenced after engaging in a pattern of violent and abusive actions toward his partners.Court proceedings revealed that he previously pressed charges for strangling one partner while on bail for smashing her window with a brick, which he admitted he threw and held at the time.
His initial victim, Hannah Forsyth, shared that in August 2024, she entered into a relationship with him lasting around five months.
During this period, Callan damaged her property by throwing a brick through her window and verbally abused her.
Despite being on bail for these offenses, he started a new relationship that quickly turned hostile.
On New Year’s Eve, he strangled his new partner, threatening her life and damaging her dress in the process.
Additionally, he sent her several messages and an Amazon parcel containing toys.
She initially assumed the gifts were from her parents, but later realized they were sent by Callan.
He was arrested several times, first on September 6, after admitting he was at the scene and responsible for damages, citing concern for her well-being.
Although released on bail, he persisted in messaging her and sending presents.
His subsequent arrest on September 26 came while he was still out on bail.
Considering his conduct and relationships, the court determined that he showed limited remorse and understanding.
He received a prison sentence of 26 months and was granted restraining orders for five years for both victims.
The court also noted his long-standing criminal record, which includes ten convictions for fifteen different offenses.
