WINSFORD MAN GIVEN SUPERVISION FOR ATTACK ON TEENAGE GIRLFRIEND
A WINSFORD man attacked his teenage girlfriend following an argument in a taxi after a night out.Anthony Bennion punched his victim in her right cheek causing an old wound to bleed, pushed her into the road and then followed her home.
He then repeatedly texted her saying he was sorry and he loved her.
On Thursday at Northwich Magistrates' Court, Bennion was given a 12-month supervision order, which incorporated a domestic violence programme.
Miread Neesam, prosecuting, said on April 29 at 2.45am Ms Ashford had been out with friends.
She decided to get a taxi with her partner and an argument broke out.
"He punched her on her right cheek with a clenched fist.
She got out and tried to walk home.
The defendant pushed her over, her shoes fell off and she fell off the kerb onto the road." Derek MacDonald, defending said his client's feelings towards his victim had not changed.
"He had been drinking.
He lost his temper.
He still loves her.
Both parties do not speak and are going their separate ways." Magistrates also ordered Bennion to pay £100 compensation to his victim and £150 court costs.
