CAMBRIDGE MAN JAILED FOR KNIFE ATTACK AND STALKING EX-PARTNER
A man aged 53, who assaulted his ex-partner with a knife and engaged in stalking, has been convicted and sentenced to prison.Andrzej Kopys, who does not have a fixed address, threatened and harassed the woman in Cambridge by repeatedly visiting her home, where he damaged the property by hitting the door with a hammer and banging on the windows.
He admitted to charges of causing actual bodily harm and stalking.
The court sentenced him to a prison term of one year and seven months.
One notable incident occurred on September 3rd, when he brandished a hammer and hit her door in a threatening manner.
Although he was placed on bail with conditions that barred him from contacting the victim or approaching her residence, he defied these restrictions by returning multiple times to bother her.
The woman also described a June 2023 event in which Kopys threw a knife that caused an injury to her upper arm.
Throughout his bail period and while in custody, Kopys continued to send intimidatory messages to her.
Detective Constable Charmaine Wood condemned Kopys’ actions as "disgusting" and noted that the knife attack could have resulted in far more serious injuries.
She affirmed the police’s commitment to protecting domestic abuse victims and prosecuting such offenders.
