ANDREW WOLVERSON RE-IMPRISONED IN NORTHWICH FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES
In a significant development in ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation, Andrew Wolverson, a 73-year-old resident of Northwich, has been re-incarcerated following the discovery of numerous disturbing images depicting child sexual abuse.The arrest took place on November 13 of the previous year during a police compliance check at his home, which is located in the town of Northwich, Cheshire.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered a troubling collection of 173 explicit images, some of which explicitly depicted child abuse.
These images were found concealed within an LP record sleeve and a notepad, both of which were discovered under Wolverson’s bed.
The record sleeve itself drew suspicion because it featured a topless female on the front cover, raising concerns about its content and the intent behind its possession.
Further examination revealed that Wolverson was in possession of an unregistered USB stick, a clear violation of the conditions set by his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
This order was meant to restrict his access to certain materials and prevent reoffending, but his possession of the USB stick indicated a breach of these legal restrictions.
It was also noted that Wolverson has a long history of similar offenses, having been imprisoned at least three times prior to this incident, including a sentence served in 2021.
Following his arrest, Wolverson appeared at Chester Magistrates Court just two days later, where he pleaded guilty to charges of possessing a prohibited image and breaching the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The court proceedings led to a sentencing hearing at Chester Crown Court last week, where Judge Steven Everett handed down a sentence of two years and eight months in prison.
Upon his release from incarceration, Wolverson will be subject to strict conditions, including adherence to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and registration on the Sex Offenders Register.
These measures are designed to monitor his activities and prevent further offenses.
Police Constable David Howells, a member of the Cheshire Police Sex Offender Management Unit, commented on the case, emphasizing that Wolverson’s failure to comply with the conditions intended to prevent reoffending was the primary reason for his re-imprisonment.
He underscored the importance of diligent monitoring of registered offenders and assured the public that law enforcement agencies respond swiftly to breaches of such orders.
Constable Howells reaffirmed the commitment of Cheshire Police to maintaining community safety by ensuring that offenders like Wolverson are kept under close surveillance and held accountable for their actions.
