GREENOCK MAN ACCUSED OF SENDING SEXUAL MESSAGES TO POLICE POSING AS 12-YEAR-OLDS
A GREENOCK man has been charged with sending sexual messages to Scottish and Welsh police decoys posing as 12-year-old girls online.Andrew McFadyen pleaded not guilty to five separate charges during a brief hearing at the town's sheriff court.
The 62-year-old is alleged to have been in contact with a social media user who he believed to be a child on August 1, 2023.
Prosecutors say the girl was in fact a Welsh police officer, who received a series of messages from McFadyen in which he discussed participating in sexual acts with her.
He is also charged with sending images of a sexual nature to the officer.
McFadyen, of Inverkip Road, faces a further allegation relating to messages sent to an undercover Police Scotland constable on August 4, 2023.
He is charged with causing her to view a sexual image and sending a number of messages through social media, and therefore attempting to communicate indecently with a child.
Sheriff Sean Lynch set a trial for April 24, with McFadyen being released on bail in the meantime.
