ANDREW HOLLAND FROM CREWE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRL IN NORTH MERSEY
In November 2020, a disturbing case emerged involving Andrew Holland, a man from Crewe, who was found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl in North Merseyside.The details of the case reveal a pattern of predatory behavior that left the victim traumatized and scarred for life.
Holland, aged 58 and residing on Alexandra Place in Crewe, engaged in a series of heinous acts that included giving the young girl piggyback rides with the intent of touching her inappropriately.
These rides were not innocent; they served as a means for Holland to sexually assault her, an act that he initially denied, forcing the victim to endure a lengthy and distressing trial process.
It was only after the victim was cross-examined in court that Holland admitted to the sexual abuse.
He pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual offences committed against a child, all of which took place within the jurisdiction of North Merseyside.
The charges included six counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 and two counts of gross indecency involving a child under 14.
Prosecutor Steven Swift provided court details, describing an incident where Holland touched the girl’s underwear and asked her if she liked it, leaving her in a state of shock and embarrassment.
Mr.
Swift also explained that Holland would give the girl piggyback rides, during which he would touch her bottom, further violating her trust and innocence.
Holland reportedly told the girl that no one would believe her if she told anyone about the abuse, adding a layer of intimidation and fear to her ordeal.
During the court proceedings, a victim personal statement was read aloud, in which the young girl expressed her feelings of loss and trauma.
She stated, “I feel part of my childhood was taken from me by him and I can never get that back.” Her words underscored the profound and lasting impact of Holland’s actions.
Judge Stuart Driver, QC, addressed Holland’s previous convictions, which were not detailed during the hearing but were acknowledged by the court.
The judge clarified that these past convictions did not serve to aggravate the current case but did affect Holland’s character, which was otherwise considered to be of good standing before these offences.
It was also noted that Holland had previously attended a sex offenders’ treatment program, although this did not prevent him from committing these crimes.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Driver emphasized the severe impact Holland’s actions had on the victim’s life, stating, “What you did had a severe impact on the whole of her life.” Considering Holland’s health issues and the ongoing restrictions within prisons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the judge sentenced him to five years in prison.
Additionally, Holland was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further harm.
