MIDDLESBROUGH MAN ANDREW HALL JAILED FOR LIFE FOR STABBING A WOMAN TO DEATH 36 TIMES & FOR ASSAULTS

Andrew Hall, aged 47, was convicted of the brutal murder of his friend Glenna Siviter, whom he stabbed 36 times in her home.

The attack was so violent that she sustained injuries to her heart, lung, neck, and arm, with over 30 stab wounds inflicted during the assault.

The court heard that Hall had turned up at her house at 3 a.m.

on December 11 last year and murdered her in a frenzied attack.

He then concealed her body under her sofa where she remained for four days until her son discovered her.

Hall’s motive was identified as theft, as he stole her jewelry—an inheritance from her mother—and sold it to fund his drug addiction.

The court was told he also attacked two other individuals, Sam Harker and Craig Woodier, in the days following the murder, wounding them with knives.

Hall was found guilty of murder and attempted murder, but not guilty of the attempted murder of Harker, instead being convicted of wounding with intent.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 36 years, with his time on remand deducted, meaning he will serve approximately 35 years and 171 days before parole consideration.

The judge highlighted the absence of any clear motive beyond drug influence, noting the impact on the victims’ families and the community.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Carr from Cleveland Police commended the bravery of witnesses and the victim’s family, expressing hope that justice provides some comfort.

Hall’s long history of offending since 1989, including burglaries, robberies, and a previous knife possession, was also detailed during the trial.
