ANDREW DOBSON CAUGHT IN CREWE WITH CHILD-LIKE SEX DOLL AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
In June 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Andrew Dobson, a 49-year-old nuclear energy consultant from Crewe, Cheshire.Dobson found himself in police custody after authorities uncovered his involvement in importing a highly inappropriate and illegal item into the United Kingdom.
The item in question was a child-like sex doll, which he had purchased for £150 through an online auction platform, eBay.
The doll, which bore the appearance of a girl as young as four years old, was ordered from a sex toy company based in Hong Kong, with the transaction details including an invoice and an advertisement depicting a young girl in a sexualized pose.
The doll was equipped with various accessories, such as a negligee, face mask, blindfold, gloves, and a 'cavity warmer,' all intended to enhance its realism and, disturbingly, its sexual appeal.
Authorities intercepted the package at East Midlands Airport in Leicestershire as it arrived from Hong Kong, preventing it from reaching Dobson.
This interception was part of a broader effort by UK Border Force to monitor and prevent the importation of such illicit items.
Following the seizure, police executed a search warrant at Dobson’s residence in Wistaston, a village near Crewe, where they uncovered a cache of illegal material.
On his computer, officers discovered 26 images and videos depicting child abuse, including a particularly heinous 12-minute clip showing a six-year-old girl being raped by a man wearing a clown mask.
Dobson later admitted that he had purchased the doll with the intent to use it for sexual gratification.
Dobson’s arrest and subsequent investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior.
The police found that he had been involved in the possession and creation of indecent images of children, which further implicated him in ongoing abuse.
His actions and the evidence collected painted a clear picture of his perverted interests and criminal intent.
The case was brought before Chester Crown Court, where Dobson faced multiple charges, including the importation of an obscene item, making, and possessing indecent images of children.
He pleaded guilty to these charges and was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
During the sentencing, Judge Simon Berkson expressed his revulsion at the nature of the items involved and the implications of such crimes.
He stated, “I had the doll shown to me, and it is disgusting to think that this type of item exists and can be bought and imported all over the world.
This was no mistake or misguided act on your part; it was meant for your perverted sexual desire towards children.” The judge emphasized that the evidence found on Dobson’s computer, including the 12-minute abusive video, represented some of the worst forms of child exploitation.
He also highlighted Dobson’s respectable employment history and his responsibilities towards his elderly mother and adult son, noting the contrast between his public persona and his private crimes.
Prosecutor Peter Hussey explained that the package containing the doll was sent from Hong Kong via air freight and was intercepted by UK Border Force on September 23 of the previous year.
The investigation revealed that Dobson was the person who ordered the package, which originated from a Japanese company operating out of Hong Kong.
The authorities found that the sender attempted to conceal the true nature of the contents, but the evidence was clear.
The doll was approximately 105 centimeters tall, with a doctor estimating its age to be between 3 years and 8 months and 6 years and 2 months.
Dobson was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the danger he poses to society.
