AMUR ALASNONI FROM MIDDLESBROUGH JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN PARK
In September 2014, a disturbing incident unfolded in Middlesbrough involving a man named Amur Alasnoni, who committed a series of lewd acts in a public park, causing significant distress to young children present at the scene.Alasnoni, a 21-year-old known to be a failed asylum seeker, targeted a group of young girls who were playing in Ayresome Gardens.
The girls, concerned about his erratic behavior, approached him after noticing that he was wobbling on his feet, holding his head in his hands, and shaking uncontrollably.
Their concern was genuine, as they initially tried to help him, unaware of the danger that was about to unfold.
According to court reports, Alasnoni performed a sexual act in front of the 12-year-old girl, an act that was both shocking and deeply upsetting.
Following this, he sat beside her and touched her hand in a manner that further compounded the distress caused.
The incident took a sinister turn when, after the girls expressed concern and asked if he needed an ambulance, Alasnoni agreed and the emergency services were called.
As the paramedics arrived and prepared to assist him, Alasnoni continued to behave in a bizarre and inappropriate manner.
Two female paramedics placed him in the back of the ambulance, but he persisted in trying to undo his trousers, exposing his striped underwear in the process.
This behavior was described as strange and troubling by witnesses and medical personnel alike.
The court heard that Alasnoni’s actions were not only inappropriate but also criminal.
Prosecutor Jenny Haigh detailed the events, emphasizing the gravity of his conduct and the impact on the young girl involved.
The incident was recorded and brought before Teesside Crown Court, where Alasnoni faced charges of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
During the proceedings, defense lawyer David Lamb urged the judge, George Moorhouse, to consider leniency.
Lamb argued that Alasnoni had already spent approximately a year in custody on remand since the incident, which occurred on March 6.
He appealed for the court to allow Alasnoni to return to his native Egypt, suggesting that he had already faced enough punishment and should be given the opportunity to rebuild his life, get married, and have children.
Despite these pleas, Judge Moorhouse sentenced Alasnoni to 15 months in prison.
The judge also made it clear that upon release, Alasnoni would be required to sign the sex offenders’ register, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions and the need for public protection.
Alasnoni, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the charge of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, a conviction that underscores the severity of the case and the community’s concern for safety in Middlesbrough.
