BANBURY: FACE REVEALED OF MAN JAILED FOR RAPING WOMAN IN ALLEYWAY
Amos Makuyana, 27, of Reservoir Road, Kettering, was on trial in connection with a rape in Newlands Place off Broad Street in Banbury.
Makuyana denied one count of rape, but was found guilty by a jury on August 8.
The incident happened between 3.25am and 3.50am on Saturday, February 1 in which an 18-year-old woman was raped in an alleyway in Newlands Place off Broad Street.
Makuyana then followed the woman down Newlands Place, which is a dead end, and raped her.
He was jailed for nine years at a hearing on September 26.
A victim impact statement was read out on behalf of the victim, describing her suffering and emotional trauma.
Judge Maria Lamb said: 'You by your actions humiliated and demeaned her.
She has spoken movingly about the impacts on her.
Your behaviour was predatory, you were looking for a sexual encounter.
What you did was without her consent and you had no reasonable belief she was consenting.
I hope you come to realise the enormity of what you have done.' As well as being jailed for nine years, Makuyana must comply with notification requirements indefinitely, is barred from working with children and vulnerable people, and he must pay a victim surcharge of £228.
