AMANDA EDWARDS SHOCKS EBBW VALE WITH FATAL STABBING DURING VIOLENT ROW
Amanda Edwards, a 29-year-old woman from Ebbw Vale, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the death of her common-law husband, Stuart Price, who was 30 years old.The tragic incident unfolded during a heated argument on November 4 of the previous year, a confrontation that was fueled by excessive alcohol consumption, with both individuals reportedly drinking up to 10 liters of cider.
According to court reports, the altercation escalated rapidly, turning violent as Mr.
Price allegedly assaulted Edwards’ dog, smashed her mobile phone, and physically attacked her.
In response to these aggressive acts, Edwards armed herself with a three-inch kitchen knife.
During the confrontation, she stabbed Mr.
Price through the heart, an act that ultimately led to his death.
The court heard that following the stabbing, Edwards panicked and called emergency services, desperately seeking help as her partner lay injured.
Despite efforts to save him, Mr.
Price succumbed to his injuries and died later in hospital.
The presiding judge, Mr.
Justice Pitchford, acknowledged the complex and turbulent nature of their relationship, which was marred by mutual violence and heavy drinking.
The court was informed that neighbors often heard disturbances and loud arguments emanating from their home.
In his sentencing remarks, Mr.
Justice Pitchford emphasized that both parties had engaged in violent behavior, but he also recognized Edwards’ genuine remorse for her actions.
This remorse was a significant factor in the court’s decision to impose a relatively shorter sentence than might typically be expected for such a serious offense.
