A woman who returned home at 6am to find her front door broken and her estranged partner, Alfie Dunston, standing in the doorway.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Dunston verbally abused his former partner and then attacked her.
During the attack, he spat in her face and bit her on the hand.
He also asked her if she wanted a black eye, then punched her in the face and assaulted her with a piece of the broken door.
Dunston, aged 28 and residing on Hudson Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to assault.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail and ordered to pay £200 in compensation upon release.
A restraining order was also issued for 12 months, prohibiting him from contacting her or entering her street.
The victim was reportedly crying and begging him to leave, while Dunston threatened to rape her and said he would hurt her properly before leaving.
He swung a piece of the door at her, causing her to sustain a bruise on her arm.
The defendant was represented by Mark Williams, who acknowledged his client accepted the victim's right to go out and that his actions, including damaging the door and spitting, were inappropriate, but denied spitting directly at her.
