ALEXANDER SALMOND SENTENCED FOR LIFE IN FIFE FOR SERIAL SEXUAL ABUSE ON YOUNG GIRLS

In a chilling case that has shocked the community of Fife, Alexander Salmond has been sentenced to life imprisonment after a long history of sexually abusing young girls over a span of 26 years.
The heinous crimes committed by Salmond, who began his predatory behaviour at the tender age of 13, have left a trail of devastation among his victims and the wider community alike.
Details emerged during the proceedings that Salmond’s abuse started early in his teenage years, with his first known victim being a six-year-old girl whom he exposed himself to and engaged in inappropriate acts with in 1976.
Over the years, his criminal activities escalated, culminating in the rape of an 11-year-old girl on Christmas Day in 1993.
During that assault, Salmond forcibly pushed her into a bedroom, restrained her wrists, covered her mouth, and then raped her after removing her clothes.
This particular incident was described as the most egregious among his offenses.
The court heard that Salmond’s criminal conduct was not limited to a single location.
His offenses spanned several areas within Fife, including High Valleyfield and Rosyth, as well as other parts of Scotland such as Bo’ness in West Lothian and Bannockburn in Stirlingshire.
His victims ranged in age from as young as three to eleven years old, with a total of seven victims identified in the nine charges he pleaded guilty to.
Throughout the trial, six of Salmond’s victims provided evidence, describing the trauma inflicted upon them.
Salmond, who was described as a burly, bearded, bald man with spectacles, showed no remorse for his actions, according to the court.
His history of criminal behaviour includes previous convictions for indecent exposure at age 17 and lewd behaviour in 1992, which resulted in a 30-day prison sentence.
He has appeared in court on 21 prior occasions, highlighting a pattern of repeated offending.
The judge, Roderick Macdonald QC, expressed grave concern about Salmond’s dangerousness.
He stated, “In my opinion you are such a serious danger that you should not be released from prison until the appropriate authority is satisfied you no longer constitute a danger.” The court also heard from a social worker who assessed Salmond and concluded that he posed a very high risk of re-offending sexually.
In delivering the sentence, the judge emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable young girls from such a dangerous individual.
Recognizing the severity of the crimes and Salmond’s history, he decided that a fixed term of seven-and-a-half years should be served before Salmond could apply for parole.
However, the ultimate decision on his release would rest with the parole board, which would consider the safety of the public before granting any form of release.
During the sentencing, defense counsel Scott Brady QC acknowledged the gravity of the case, noting Salmond’s turbulent and often traumatic upbringing.
It was also mentioned that a partner of Salmond had two children removed from his care due to child protection concerns.
Ultimately, the court imposed a life sentence, with the specified period of seven-and-a-half years before Salmond could seek parole, underscoring the seriousness with which the justice system views his crimes and the need to safeguard society from further harm.
