NORTH WALES MAN JAILED FOR ONLINE GROOMING AND SEXUAL ABUSE OF MINORS
A man named Alexander Burnett Linton from Bryn Pydew in Llandudno Junction received a nine-year prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving minors. The 32-year-old used Snapchat to communicate with young girls, sending explicit images and arranging meetings.
He encouraged minors, including one under the age of 16, to send sexual photos of themselves, and over approximately a year, he exchanged numerous sexual messages with them.
Linton also visited at least two minors, one of whom was an 11-year-old girl he contacted online through the social media platform, urging her to send sexual images.
During court hearings, it was revealed that Linton was aware of the minors' ages but continued his inappropriate conduct.
A victim impact statement from one of the girls described her initial feelings of excitement that later turned into regret, highlighting how his actions adversely affected her early experiences with relationships.
The court also learned that Linton subsequently started a relationship with another young girl, encouraging her to send sexual photos, which she found frightening and repulsive.
The judge sentenced him to nine years in prison, stressing that incarceration was the only appropriate punishment, and mandated that he register as a sex offender for life.
Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order was issued, preventing Linton from being unsupervised around children under 16 and requiring him to grant police access to his internet activity.
Authorities emphasized their dedication to safeguarding vulnerable individuals and their efforts to apprehend and prosecute offenders like Linton.
