ALLESSANDRO SANTI SHOCKS PAISLEY WITH MULTIPLE SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON YOUNG GIRLS
Alessandro Santi, a 34-year-old man from Paisley, has been found guilty of committing numerous sexual offenses against seven young girls, some of whom were as young as 15 years old. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of misconduct, with victims recounting how Santi lured them into the 'juice cupboard' at his workplace, Dani’s Diner in Erskine, which was owned by his parents at the time. These victims described how Santi engaged in inappropriate behavior, including making lewd comments, showing them explicit images on his phone, and physically assaulting them by rubbing his private parts against their bodies. One young woman, who was only 15 when targeted, recounted how Santi expressed a desire to 'bend her over a table,' highlighting the predatory nature of his actions.Throughout the trial, the jury heard harrowing accounts from the victims, detailing how Santi's misconduct extended over several years, from 2016 to 2022. One woman described how Santi had targeted her at a young age and how she was deeply upset by his actions, ultimately confiding in her parents. Her parents confronted Santi, which added to the distress caused by his behavior. Prosecutor Jason Stark questioned a woman about her feelings regarding Santi's conduct, to which she responded that she felt disgusted and embarrassed. She also revealed that Santi had shown her images of nude women on his phone and had asked her to send explicit pictures of herself.
Photographs of Santi outside Paisley Sheriff Court, where he was standing trial, were presented as evidence. Despite denying all allegations during the proceedings, Santi was convicted on 14 out of 19 charges by the jury. The court heard how he had made inappropriate comments about the appearance of some victims and had rubbed his private parts against them, actions that caused significant distress. Sheriff Hugh McGinty condemned Santi's predatory behavior, emphasizing the seriousness of his misconduct and warning that prison sentences were almost inevitable.
During the trial, Santi submitted a letter requesting bail, claiming he needed to care for his children and grandfather. However, the sheriff criticized the letter for lacking remorse and only showing concern for himself. Ultimately, Santi was released on bail and is scheduled to return to court next month for sentencing. Meanwhile, Dani’s Diner, the establishment where the offenses took place, has been taken over by new owners, signaling a fresh start for the business after the troubling events.
