NORFOLK MAN JAILED FOR VICIOUS ATTACK ON HIS PARTNER AT HOME
A man aged 38 has been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of attacking his former partner in a violent manner.At Norwich Crown Court, it was stated that Aidan Stolworthy, who lives on Gateley Road in Brisley, assaulted his partner at their home after she refused to allow him to read her texts or access her mobile device.
The court heard that he forcibly removed her from a bed and pushed her into a wardrobe so hard that she temporarily lost her ability to breathe.
The assault did not stop there; he lifted her off the floor and threw her back onto the bed, causing her to land on her neck.
The complainant informed officers that the pain was extreme, leading her to black out and vomit.
She was left with significant bruises on her face and body.
The police arrested Stolworthy the next day and detained him at the King’s Lynn police station.
He was later charged with multiple offences.
He was handed a three-year prison sentence and a five-year restraining order by the court.
Previously, Stolworthy admitted to causing bodily harm and damaging property on 17 March 2021, as well as engaging in controlling and coercive conduct from late December 2015 until March 2021.
In a statement read in court, the victim who no longer has a relationship with him described the impact of his violence: “I was in a relationship with Aidan for the last 20 years.
There was a mixture of relief and fear when I started talking about what Aidan had done to me.
Relief knowing that I was eventually letting someone know how bad it was, and that I had a chance to be free.
I felt fear because I was worried that he would try to make me feel like it was my fault, and that I would be hurt again.
“On that day in March 2021, Aidan left me with horrible bruising all over my body.
The pain was awful, and it was like I had been run over or kicked by a horse.
I ached everywhere and I didn’t even look like myself.
My jaw was in so much pain that it was hard to talk, eat and drink.
“In time my physical health improved, as did my mental health…I feel like I have been given a new chance at life, and as ridiculous as it sounds, I am free.” Detective Constable Stuart Sansbury from Norfolk Police said: “Stolworthy committed a vicious attack on a woman he claimed to love.
Fortunately, her physical injuries have healed but the mental scars and trauma that comes with living with an abusive and physically violent partner will remain with her for some considerable time.
“She has shown great bravery in coming forward to tell us what was happening, and I want to thank her for doing so."
