WAKEFIELD MAN JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER BRUTAL DOUBLE MURDER
A man responsible for forcing his ex-girlfriend to watch him carry out a murder has been sentenced to a minimum of 34 years in prison.Ahmad Otak, originally an asylum seeker from Afghanistan, murdered two teenage girls, Kimberley Frank and Samantha Sykes, in March.
During the attack in Wakefield, he stabbed Kimberley Frank 15 times and Samantha Sykes 32 times.
After the killings, Otak bound Ms.
Frank and compelled her to call her friend, Miss Sykes, to come to the flat.
When she arrived, he repeatedly stabbed her before fleeing with Ms.
Frank to Dover.
There, he engaged in a confrontation with police, was wrestled to the ground by a bystander, and subsequently apprehended.
Otak was convicted of two counts of murder and had entered a guilty plea in October.
The judge described him as a 'practised liar' with a sadistic streak, stating he 'behaved like an animal' and lacked the capacity to act humanely.
Residing on Linton Road, Wakefield, Otak arrived in the UK in 2007 and was granted humanitarian protection but lied about his age to access social services.
Court reports revealed a troubled relationship with Ms.
Frank, whom he met while in care, and noted his increasing possessiveness and threats.
After sentencing, authorities stated Otak would not be eligible for release until 2046, underscoring the seriousness of his crimes and the risk he presents.
