ADELE RENNIE SENTENCED IN KILMARNOCK FOR REPEATED OFFENSES AFTER VIOLATING NON-HARASSMENT ORDER
Adele Rennie, a woman with a troubling history of criminal behavior, has been sentenced to serve time in prison following her recent breach of a court-issued non-harassment order in Kilmarnock.Her actions, which occurred just 11 days after her release from custody, have once again brought her to the attention of the legal system and highlighted her persistent disregard for court directives.
Rennie, who previously served time for stalking and sexual offenses related to a catfishing scheme, was subject to a five-year ban on contacting the woman she had targeted.
Despite this, she deliberately reached out to her victim, claiming she believed she was communicating with a man named Gordon.
This contact was made through a message sent by Rennie, which directly contravened the restrictions placed upon her.
The incident took place at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, where she was handed a sentence of 100 days for breaching the non-harassment order.
This latest conviction marked her fourth related to her previous catfishing and impersonation crimes.
Her criminal record includes prior incarcerations in 2017 and 2019, during which she used voice-changing technology to impersonate men and manipulate women into sharing intimate images, further demonstrating her pattern of deceptive and coercive behavior.
In September 2024, Rennie pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including stalking and coercing her victim into viewing a sexual image.
The court sentenced her to two years and four months in prison, ordered her to be placed on the sex offenders register for a decade, and imposed a sexual harm prevention order for five years.
These measures reflect the serious nature of her offenses and the ongoing threat she poses to the safety and well-being of others.
Procurator fiscal David Bernard emphasized the gravity of Rennie’s repeated violations, stating, "The law will not tolerate Adele Rennie's refusal to abide by the strict restrictions placed upon her." Her actions have caused significant distress to her victim, who reported feeling anxious and unsafe as a result of Rennie’s conduct.
During the sentencing hearing, Sheriff Patrick carefully considered the details of the case, including a comprehensive criminal justice social work report and a psychological assessment.
He acknowledged the efforts of her legal representative, Mr.
McPherson, and highlighted Rennie’s deliberate pursuit of her victim, which involved premeditation, deception, and manipulation.
The victim’s statement revealed the profound emotional impact of Rennie’s actions, leading her to seek support to cope with the trauma inflicted.
Given the seriousness of her offenses and her history of similar conduct, Sheriff Patrick determined that only imprisonment could adequately protect the public.
He sentenced Rennie to 28 months in prison, with the sentences for multiple charges running concurrently, backdated to November 15, 2023.
The court also imposed a supervised release order for 12 months upon her release, requiring her to report regularly to a supervising officer, keep her address updated, and participate in offender-focused programs aimed at addressing underlying issues contributing to her behavior.
Furthermore, a non-harassment order was issued, prohibiting Rennie from approaching, contacting, or communicating with her victim in any way for five years.
Breaching this order would result in immediate return to custody.
Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was granted for five years, and Rennie was placed on the sex offenders register for ten years, underscoring the ongoing restrictions and monitoring designed to prevent further offenses.
Sheriff Patrick concluded by warning Rennie of the consequences of breaching her orders, emphasizing the importance of compliance for public safety and her own rehabilitation.
