ADAM WALTON BOLTON RAPIST SENTENCED AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT IN BOLTON
On the evening of October 27, a woman was enjoying a meal with friends in Bolton when her night took a disturbing turn.After finishing her dinner, she returned to her home in Bolton, accompanied by several friends and the man later identified as Adam Walton, a resident of Bolton, with the intent of creating Halloween decorations.
While at her residence, the woman eventually fell asleep.
However, her rest was abruptly interrupted when she awoke to find Adam Walton restraining her and engaging in sexual assault.
The victim, startled and distressed by Walton’s actions, confronted him, which prompted Walton to quickly leave the scene.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the woman immediately contacted a friend for support and then called her father.
Her father, in turn, promptly alerted the police authorities in Bolton.
Following the police report, an investigation was launched into the incident.
During a detailed analysis of Adam Walton’s mobile phone, investigators uncovered communications that indicated Walton was involved in procuring illegal substances, specifically cocaine and Viagra, on the night of the assault.
When questioned by law enforcement, Walton showed no remorse for his actions and attempted to justify his conduct, which was deemed reprehensible by the authorities.
Walton, born on May 1, 1988, and residing in Bolton, entered a plea of not guilty, refusing to admit to the charges against him.
His decision to deny responsibility meant that the victim was required to recount the traumatic events publicly during the trial.
Her bravery in coming forward played a crucial role in ensuring that justice was served.
After a jury deliberation, Adam Walton was found guilty by majority verdict and was subsequently sentenced to seven years in prison for his crimes.
The conviction underscores the seriousness of sexual assault and the importance of respecting personal boundaries and consent.
Detective Constable Anna Skelton from Bolton CID emphasized the importance of reporting such crimes, stating, “We know that coming forward to report sexual offences can be difficult, but no one should ever feel alone in such circumstances, and we will do all we can to provide you with the necessary support and help get justice.” She further added, “Adam Walton forced himself on a woman who was asleep and could not give consent.
This comes as a reminder to everyone to respect personal boundaries and consent.
