WORCESTER SEX ATTACKER FACES SENTENCING DELAY AFTER FORGETTING COURT APPOINTMENT
A sex attacker from Worcester, Adam Malinski, attacked a woman on November 24 last year. The 48-year-old had pleaded not guilty to the attack but was found guilty following a trial at Worcester Magistrates' Court.
Magistrates initially ordered a pre-sentence report on Malinski, who was due to be sentenced at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court this morning (August 26).
However, the court was informed that Malinski had received a letter about his appointment but had misplaced the paperwork and, as a result, did not attend his meeting with the probation service.
This prevented the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
During the hearing, defence lawyer Belinda Ariss stated that Malinski was apologetic and that he had now remembered the appointment, with plans to attend.
She requested an adjournment so a new pre-sentence report could be prepared.
The chair of the bench, Lesley Houlston, indicated they would give him the benefit of the doubt and adjourn the case to allow him to meet with probation on September 12.
Malinski was granted conditional bail and is now scheduled to be sentenced at 10 am on Monday, September 22.
