MIDDLESBROUGH MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENTLY SHAKING YOUNG CHILD

A man who violently shook a young child causing a bleed on the brain several years ago has been locked up.

Adam Hall eventually owned up to what happened after the baby suffered a seizure and was taken to hospital.

The 30-year-old accepted he caused the head injury, and medical reports showed the baby had suffered bruising and injuries in the days leading up to the shaking incident.

Teesside Crown Court heard the baby also suffered a broken clavicle likely caused by a forceful blow and bruising to its arms consistent with being firmly gripped.

Hall, of Laurel Street, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm when the case came to court.

Judge Jo Kidd sentenced Hall to two years in prison after medical investigation showed the brain injury was the equivalent of being involved in a car accident or being dropped from a height.
