OFFENDER WHO SHAVED WOMAN'S HEAD IN TERRIFYING ATTACK GETS 2.5 YEARS
In Grimsby, a woman faced a frightening assault by her ex-boyfriend, Adam Baines, who was dressed in a black balaclava and gloves during the attack. He entered her bedroom and subjected her to multiple punches in the face while she was lying in bed.
Afterward, he shaved her head using an electric razor, resulting in cuts and injuries to her face and eyebrows.
The woman, a mother to nine children, described feeling terrified and believing she was in mortal danger during the assault.
She also revealed that Baines had sent her threatening messages beforehand and warned her he would place her in the boot of a car for three hours and cause her further harm if she told anyone.
Her account reflected ongoing fear and trauma, noting she is now unable to sleep well and feels unsafe leaving her current home.
Their relationship lasted two and a half years, but following their breakup, Baines’s behavior became increasingly threatening.
He would appear uninvited at her residence, refuse to leave, and even remain in her bed for hours.
During the attack, he assaulted her with his fists and made verbal threats of violence and control.
Baines had booked a one-way flight to Thailand the day after the incident but denied to authorities that he was trying to flee the country.
The court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison and issued an indefinite restraining order.
The judge characterized the assault as a nightmare scenario for any woman, emphasizing its premeditated, humiliating, and horrific nature.
After the sentencing, the victim expressed relief that he had been given a custodial sentence, stating it will help her rebuild her life and find some peace.
