BURNLEY MAN TO STAND TRIAL OVER ALLEGED RAPE CHARGES
An alleged Burnley rapist will go to trial later this year after denying a series of charges.Adam Ashworth, 34, appeared before Burnley Crown Court and entered not guilty pleas to one charge of rape of a woman over 16, attempted rape of a woman, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, threat to damage and destroy property and threats to kill.
The alleged rape was said to have happened in January, with the rest of the offending supposedly occurring between August 1 and 20.
Ashworth, of Castle Street, will go to trial on February 16 and is expected to last four days, with a pre-trial review on December 15.
He has been remanded in custody until then.
