BURNLEY MAN SENTENCED FOR SENDING SEXUAL MESSAGES TO DECOY ACCOUNT
A Burnley man sent disgusting sexual messages to who he thought was a 12-year-old girl over Facebook Messenger.Abdul Khan, aged 26, was actually communicating with a decoy account set up by a self-styled paedophile hunter group.
The messages, reportedly over 270 pages, included requests for pictures of the girl’s genitals and images of Khan himself.
Additionally, Khan sent videos and voice notes performing sexual acts and arranged to meet a 17-year-old girl at a hotel.
He was apprehended by the group while waiting for the police.
Khan pleaded guilty to attempted sexual communication with a child and arranging a child sex offence.
He was sentenced to two years imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with requirements for rehabilitation activity, sex offender notification, and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
The judge highlighted his low cognitive abilities but stated he knew what he was doing was wrong.
